Jedan od posljednjih zlatnih novčića ikad puštenih u opticaj u SAD-u prodan je u utorak u New Yorku za rekordnih 18,9 miliona dolara.
Izuzetno rijedak zlatnik “Double Eagle” iz 1933. Godine sada je najvredniji novčić koji se ikad pojavio na aukciji, gotovo udvostručujući prethodni svjetski rekord, navodi Sotheby’s, koji je organizirao prodaju.
Novčić ima Liberty s jedne strane, i orla u letu s druge strane, nominalne vrijednosti 20 dolara. Izdanje “Double Eagle” iz 1933. Godine nikada nije ušlo u opticaj, a gotovo svi su vraćeni američkoj vladi i otopljeni, piše CNN Style.
Samo je šačica novčića pošteđena ove sudbine, a mali broj je ušao na tržište. Ali 1944. Godine istraga tajne službe proglasila je da će se bilo koji od njih koji se nađe u rukama kolekcionara smatrati ukradenim, navodi Sotheby’s.
